Chrome (the proprietary Google-branded version, not Chromium) is probably the correct choice here to properly support school workflows and DRM-protected media.

This will require:

  • some way to sandbox Chrome -- firejail, a Snap similar to Canonical's Steam snap, or similar
  • configurable firewall rules (#4)
